Water Pavilion

Several hundred years of history of Chwaliszewo Bend was inseparably connected with water, but due to the actions undertaken in the 60’s, this relationship has been interrupted. In the past the old bed of Warta River was associated with the industry, logistics and defense. Future plans, according to city authorities, are to transform the area into places with greenery and recreation.The mission of Water Pavilion project is not to ask questions whether to restore or not the old course of the river, but rather to remind the people of the history of this place.

Kilkusetletnia historia Zakola Chwaliszewskiego nierozerwalnie połączona była z wodą, lecz na skutek działań z lat 60 ubiegłego stulecia więź ta została przerwana. Przeszłość dawnego koryta Warty związana jest z przemysłem, logistyką oraz obronnością, a przyszłość na skutek planów władz miasta – z zielenią i rekreacją. Głównym założeniem tego projektu nie jest stawianie odpowiedzi na pytanie czy należy odtwarzać dawny przebieg rzeki, ale poprzez charakter założenia przypominanie o historii tego miejsca.

Important objectives of the project are:

1. MEMORY - recall the history of the city along with Chwaliszewo Bend in a way that intrigues and stimulates the imagination,
2. ANIMATION of the process of revitalizing the old riverbed of Warta River by implication of new features
3. creation of interesting PUBLIC SPACES, exhibitions, meeting places that create a platform for interpersonal interaction
4. OPENNESS, an easy access enabling the free pedestrian flow. The form of Water Pavilion is an effect of these four assumptions.

Istotnymi założeniami projektu są:

1. PAMIĘĆ –przypominanie o historii miasta wraz z Zakolem Chwaliszewskim w sposób intrygujący i pobudzający wyobraźnię,
2. ANIMACJA procesu rewitalizacji starego koryta Warty poprzez implikację nowych funkcji
3. stworzenie ciekawych PRZESTRZENI PUBLICZNYCH, wystawienniczych, miejsc spotkań umożliwiających interakcję międzyludzką
4. OTWARTOŚĆ ZAŁOŻENIA – łatwość dostępu - umożliwiająca swobodny przepływ ludzi.
W oparciu o powyższe założenia powstała forma Pawilonu Wody.
